How many tickets do you get for graduation at Sfsu? ›

Renting regalia through the Jostens website or through the Bookstore will qualify you to receive up seven (7) Commencement tickets.

Commencement occurs in a public venue and will be recorded and photographed for distribution through various SF State outlets.

San Francisco State University celebrated the Class of 2023 at its annual Commencement ceremony Friday, May 26, at Oracle Park. More than 4,000 graduates and more than 31,000 people attended the event, which featured technology business leader Jayshree Ullal as keynote speaker.

6:30 p.m. Ceremony begins (estimated time).

A student must have completed at least 100 semester units towards graduation. At least 45 of those 100 semester units must have been earned at SF State. A student's GPA must place them among the top students in the graduating class. Most initiates have earned a GPA above 3.7.

Items available through the Jostens website: Bachelor Rental Package (includes cap, gown and tassel): $45. Masters Rental Package (includes cap, gown, tassel and hood): $80.

Three official graduation dates are scheduled each year: one in the fall, one in the spring, and one in the summer.

SF State offers a variety of classrooms and lecture halls across campus. Whether you are hosting small sessions or need large breakout rooms, we have the space for you. All spaces are subject to availability based on academic schedule.

There are more than 3,000 students enrolled in one of San Francisco State University's master's, credential, second baccalaureate, certificate, and joint doctoral programs.

Spanning five diverse communities, Residential Life serves about 4,500 bed space residents. Residential Life is the largest department within the Division of Student Life & Dean of Students unit and employs 36 professional staff members, 122 live-in student leaders, and over 120 community desk assistants.

Apply to Graduate

To be eligible to apply for either Summer or Spring graduation, a student must have completed a minimum of 90 units.

Graduates do not need a ticket. Children 2 and under are considered lap children and do not need a ticket to enter the ceremonies as long as they are not taking a seat. When students are claiming their tickets, graduates will also be able to request up to an additional 5 EXTRA TICKETS.

Every graduate who RSVP'd will be provided with twelve (12) complimentary tickets.

A Guest ticket is REQUIRED for all guests age three (3) and up. Maximum of six (6) Guest Tickets are guaranteed per graduate. If you need more Guest Tickets, we recommend asking other Graduates scheduled for your ceremony if they have extras. If so, they may email or print their extra tickets for you and your guests.

Each graduate receives eight tickets electronically via Marching Order. Graduates have the option to email or print their guest tickets. They will be able to access and email or print your tickets up until the ceremony start time.
