Hi Johnny,
There is no maximum mileage engineered into any car. With the right care and attention, they can go on forever, in theory. And yes, people can be unlucky, buy low-mileage cars and maintain them properly, and yet they still go pop, but most don't with regularmaintenance. Peugeot diesel engines, specifically the old 1.9-litre turbodiesel, are known to be almost indestructible, but the newer 1.6 should be a solid engine for 300,000km, maybe 400,000km and more. The turbocharger will be the weak link (as it is on every turbocharged engine, not just the Peugeot’s): even with careful servicing, the turbo will eventually wear out and you need to replace it before it lets go, otherwise the whole car could be junk.
